Glasnevin Cemetery
Dublin's graveyard with 1.5 million people buried here. Established by Daniel O'Connell in 1828 where political and civil war enemies are buried in close proximity. Famous "residents" from Ireland's history include Daniel O'Connell (who achieved Catholic emancipation), the charismatic Michael Collins, former President Eamon de Valera, Parliamentarian Charles Stewart Parnell and leader of the struggle for worker's rights Jim Larkin.
The Glasnevin Cemetery Museum and Tour are highly recommended as their stories bring the personalities back to life and provide a fascinating insight into Irish history.
