Queer Berlin LGBT Gay Tour of Berlin with Original Berlin Walks
Discover the different periods and neighbourhoods in Berlin's Gay history, from the ambivalent period in the late 19th century to the 1920s and 30s, through persecution under the Nazis and criminalization for decades after the second world war.
The tour explores Berlin's Schöneberg neighbourhood, known for famous LGBT residents of the past, home of Marlene Dietrich and written about by Christopher Isherwood and Otto Dix. The tour takes you to one of Berlin's oldest gay/transvestite bars, the Eldorado, and the memorial to the homosexuals persecuted by the Nazis.
Hear how gay people have shaped the history of Berlin, and continue to do so to this day.
The tour takes about 4 hours and finishes at the Gay Museum (Schwules Museum) in Kreuzberg.
